Inflammatory Infiltrates in Melanocytic Lesions

چکیده
Inflammatory infiltrates are frequently present in melanocytic lesions, with different distribution and composition. Much attention has been devoted to tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) the tumor microenvironment, establishing their prognostic predictive value many malignancies, including melanoma. However, lymphocytes, albeit most numerous consistent presence, constitute only part of immune microenvironment. Other inflammatory cells, neutrophils, plasma eosinophils mast found melanoma other lesions.Few studies offer a detailed count these across spectrum lesions. By using whole slide image analysis open source software, study we report enumeration benign nevi, dysplastic situ invasive malignant melanomas. Significant higher numbers cells neutrophils were observed These results indicate that composition infiltrate may contribute diagnostic algorithm

متن کاملExpression of cyclooxygenase-2 in melanocytic skin lesions by immunohistochemistry
Introduction: cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is involved in pathogenesis of various tumors and possibly malignant skin tumors including malignant melanoma; however, there is not enough information about COX-2 expression in benign melanocytic lesions. In the present study we compared the expression levels of COX-2 in malignant melanoma and benign melanocytic lesions. Method: In this analytical study, ...
متن کاملInflammatory infiltrates in parathyroid tumors
CONTEXT Inflammatory infiltrates are sometimes present in solid tumors and may be coupled to clinical behavior or etiology. Infectious viruses contribute to tumorigenesis in a significant fraction of human neoplasias. OBJECTIVE Characterize inflammatory infiltrates and possible viral transcription in primary hyperparathyroidism. DESIGN From the period 2007 to 2016, a total of 55 parathyroid...
متن کاملVS38 immunostaining in melanocytic lesions.
AIMS To investigate the immunoreactivity of a range of melanocytic lesions, both benign and malignant, with the monoclonal antibody VS38. This was recently described as a marker of reactive/neoplastic plasma cells and, therefore, is useful in the diagnosis of plasmacytoma/myeloma and lymphomas with plasmacytic differentiation. This study was prompted by the recent observation that a plasmacytoi...

A 60-year-old man, a heavy smoker, was hospitalised because of a three-month history of pleuritic chest pain, dry cough and weight loss. He had lost 20 kg in weight and suppurative skin lesions began appearing on the chest wall. His medical history was unremarkable. On examination he was cachectic (44 kg) and pale. His temperature was 37.8°C. Important physical findings of the chest and neck ar...
